An unforgettable immersion at the Yale Model United Nations Europe in Geneva
Discovering international institutions
Our students had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Yale Model United Nations Europe, a prestigious conference held in Geneva. This experience allowed them to debate major global issues and step into the role of true international diplomats.
This project goes far beyond a simple academic exercise. It is a genuine immersion into the workings of international relations, where each student was able to develop critical thinking, refine negotiation skills, and strengthen their ability to defend ideas in front of peers from all over the world.
The first stage of this adventure took them to iconic locations, such as the United Nations headquarters and the Red Cross Museum, where they were commended for their exemplary behavior and maturity when faced with the challenges discussed. Back at the hotel, each student continued their research and wrote a high-quality position paper in preparation for the debates.
Intense debates and alliance building
The conference took on its full dimension with students being assigned to three committees, each inspired by the six main committees of the United Nations General Assembly. This provided the opportunity to engage in intense and strategic debates, where each delegation rigorously defended their country’s positions.
At the same time, our students enriched their knowledge by attending captivating conferences led by experts in international politics, economics, and human rights. These sessions allowed them to deepen their understanding of global issues and strengthen their arguments for the upcoming negotiations.
Discussions became more intense with the formation of alliances, facilitated by note exchanges, moderated and unmoderated caucuses, and the collaborative drafting of directives. Each proposal was then subject to a vote for or against its adoption, with several successfully approved by the general committees — a testament to the seriousness and commitment of our students.
An impressive and creative finale
The conference concluded in spectacular fashion with the inclusion of crisis scenarios. In this stimulating environment, our students displayed great confidence during their presentations and showed remarkable efficiency in the drafting of resolutions.
The final challenge was to reach a consensus on a rather unexpected topic: the arrival of aliens and the measures to adopt. To everyone’s pride, it was the crisis scenario proposed by one of our students that was selected by the committee director to conclude the conference.
A collective and human adventure
At the end of this extraordinary experience, our students left proud, enriched by a unique diplomatic experience, and highly motivated to take part in future events.
A huge thank you also goes to our chaperones, whose caring and attentive presence was invaluable throughout. They provided constant and discreet support to the students, assisted in the daily organization and management of key moments, and ensured daily updates were shared with families — allowing them to follow this journey closely and bringing this unforgettable experience beyond Geneva.
